First established in the academic year 1999-2000 with only 50 members, the Vietnamese Students’ Society in Nanyang Technological University (or VNNTU) with full support from the Students’ Union (NTUSU) and Student Affairs Office (SAO) has now expanded to include more than 500 pursuing courses at NTU until now. VNNTU is also the only representation of Vietnamese students to join annual events held by NTU, such as International Cultural & Travel Festival (ICTF) and International Games (IG – an annual event initiated by Vietnamese students in 2006). Raised in 2008 by Ms Tran Hang Tam (student of School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, NTU) for the purpose of forming a musical playing field for all Vietnamese students in NTU, Project V was once again taken place in 2009 with a much larger scale and influence. From solely entertainment based to completely professional one, this singing contest has been the biggest gathering inside Vietnamese Community in Singapore, attracted attention and participation of more than 60 contestants in Audition round, 700 audiences in FinaleV night from NTU, NUS, SMU and others schools in Singapore. Proceeds from tickets were donated to The Golden Heart Foundation, Labour Newspaper for charity aim.
